An Effective Method of Modeling the Deformation Behavior of Polymer Sandwich Structures with Adhesive Joints

چکیده
Abstract Polymer sandwich structures have high bending stiffness and strength also low weight. Therefore, they are widely used in the transportation industry. In conceptual design phase, it is essential to a method model mechanical behavior of its adhesive joints accurately full-vehicle scale investigate different structure partitioning strategies. this paper, novel approach using finite element modeling introduced. The panels modeled with layered shells joint lines general matrices. Stiffness parameters face-sheets core material obtained via tests. determined by Design Experiments, where detailed sub-models serve as reference. These models validated experimental tests glass-fiber reinforced vinyl ester matrix composite foam core. By two designs three reference geometries, shown that suitable describe deformation sufficient accuracy.
